* Joseph was married first to Nancy Curtis, sister to William R. Curtis. Joseph
mar. Nancy 14 May 1828 and had 8 known children. After Nancy died, Joseph
married Eleanor "Nelly" Curtis Stricklin, former wife of Golman Green
Stricklin, on 14 Apr 1883 in Wayne Co.TN. They had one daughter, Canzada, b.
Oct 1885. She was mentally retarded, and lived in the Wayne Co. Poor House for
a period of time. Other sisters of Nancy Curtis were Sarah Garner Curtis and
Alcy Curtis. (CUR/STC-010)
All of his sons, and two of his sons-in-law fought for the Union side during
