Earl Leonard Graves was born the son of Henry Leonard Graves and Rowena Isabel
Evert, at Beatrice, Nebraska, U.S.A., December 22, 1904. He was married to
Pauline Katherine Haupert, June 16, 1924. To this union three children were
born, Shirley (Mrs. F. N. McHenry) of California, Jackie (Mrs. Red Eikerman) of
New Norway, and Dale of the Malmo area.
Mr. Graves was active in farming from 1920, at the age of 16, until the time of
his passing, except for a short period of time when the family moved to
California and he welded in the shipyard. As a young man he enjoyed playing
baseball and in his later years was an avid curler.
He was very interested in agriculture, gardening and flowers and spent time each
day of the summer admiring the flowers. Poppies were his favorite flower, but he
also loved roses. His grandchildren were very important to him and he was
especially proud of his five great grandsons.
This was the sixtieth year of theyr marriage.
Mr. Graves is survived by one sister, Ida Eggleston of Wetaskiwin.
